The Final Step
Recovery doesn’t end at discharge.
Post rehabilitation is the final step in the recovery process that follows the skilled care received from a physician, physical therapist, or chiropractor. Your personalized program will allow you the opportunity to continue the recovery process in a supervised exercise environment.
If you have special needs such as limited range of motion, decreased strength, lack of endurance, balance or coordination dysfunction, or diminished functional capacity for daily activities — this program is for you.
What to Expect
Your first appointment
Your first appointment is an assessment for muscular imbalances — finding which muscles have become tight and which have become weak. From that assessment, your Post-Rehab Trainer designs a program to stretch what’s tight and strengthen what’s weak. That eliminates joint compensation, so a dysfunctional joint can become functional again.
You hear a lot about “functional training” these days. Here’s the problem: functional exercises aren’t functional if your joints aren’t functioning properly. A functional exercise done in a dysfunctional position is dysfunctional exercise. We fix the joint first.
Your care team stays involved
We coordinate with your physical therapist, physician, or chiropractor using a referral form, so your trainer knows your condition and your precautions before you ever pick up a weight.
Three ways to use the pool
Your referral source may recommend post-rehab training in the pool, an aquatic exercise class with a gym membership, or continuing the exercises you learned in physical therapy during our independent pool times.
Virgil came to the Post-Rehab Program after spinal surgery, hoping he’d someday ski again. He’s skiing — and enjoying life — once again.
Every Post-Rehab Trainer holds a Post Rehab Specialist or Medical Exercise Specialist certification from a nationally recognized organization.
